TV Player \| EBN Show Guide and Schedule About Burke McKay - I was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA in 1955. My childhood was spent in the Dutch Valley area, close to the Cumberland Mountains in Tennessee. My childhood was influenced by both ends of the economic spectrum to some degree. Though my father was a mathematician working in the physics department of Oak Ridge National Laboratory {X-10, the Manhattan Project designation} we lived in the rural area between Oak Ridge and Clinton. Most of my friends were either working class, or poor { real poor, not what passes for it now}. I served in the US Navy on the USS Daniel Webster, a Fleet Ballistic Missile carrying Submarine. In late 1979 I was medically discharged {honorably} due to an accident that ripped the ligaments in my left knee. I moved to Ft. Worth, Texas and lived there for eight years. I then returned to Tennessee to attend college in Jefferson City, Tennessee. I now live at the foot of the Cumberland Mountains, provide what assistance I can to The Edge, and own a small business outside Oak Ridge, TN.
